How It Works
We honor people’s right to make their own choices about drug use, health, and life. We reject approaches rooted in punishment or coercion. Instead, we meet people where they are—with compassion, not judgment—and trust them to define their own path forward.
Overdose is most often fatal when people are alone. SafeSpot exists to interrupt that isolation. We know that human connection, and not surveillance nor control, is what saves lives. Every call we take reinforces the truth that being present for someone is the most powerful intervention of all.
Our team is made up of people who bring both professional skill and lived expertise. We don’t just value lived experience—we build careers around it. SafeSpot is intentional in creating pathways for operators to advance from per-diem roles into part-time and full-time leadership, ensuring that those most impacted by the overdose crisis are also those leading its solutions.
We are not here to “end overdose” through punishment or prohibition. We are here to end preventable death by building safety, connection, and opportunity. We believe that when people who use drugs are supported with dignity and treated as full human beings, communities are stronger and lives are saved.
